Sites where to find useful code snippets

As a developer, I really like to collect and keep a library of useful code snippets that allow me to save a lot of time when building websites or apps. Today, I have compiled a list of the most interesting websites to find useful code snippets.

CatsWhoCode snippet library


Some of you already know it, but a few weeks ago I’ve created a snippet library with a picky selection of usefull snippets focused on web development: PHP, JavaScript, CSS, htaccess… Approximately one new snippet is published every day. Users are welcome to submit their own snippets.

Snipplr


Snipplr is probably the largest code snippet repository available on the internet. Since 5 years, they have published thousand of pieces of code. Some snippets are super useful, some other not so, but there’s a strong chance that you’ll find what you need on a website with so many snippets.

Everybody loves WordPress. That’s a undisputable fact, and hey – WordPress very well deserves it. End users like it because WordPress provides them with an easy way to update their websites or blogs, while developers love WordPress for its flexibility and reliability.

Our today’s list of WordPress cheat sheets is actually meant for both global categories of WordPress users. End users will be able to find nice cheat sheets for SEO and content tuning, and WordPress developers can use all those neat cheat sheets for theme development, plugins API etc. Also, what makes today’s post really special is the fact that it contains only WordPress cheat sheets and nothing but them (because often on other design blogs authors present all kinds of related WordPress info in the cheat sheet posts which makes it harder for WP newbies to understand and figure out this whole thing). All the WordPress bloggers already know that there are different themes and default features available while blogging. However these are limited. Yes, you can find an original theme, if you research a lot, but there is a good chance you will see the exact theme somewhere else as well so you can say goodbye to your imagined originality. You can compensate this with a nice content of course, but the design is also really important to make visitors read you.

Display PHP Errors as WordPress Admin Alerts

The PHP language is widely adopted for many web applications like WordPress. As powerful as PHP is it does have some drawbacks, but one of the my favorite features of PHP is that it will display errors right on the web page. The new toolbar that was introduced in WordPress 3.3 interferes with this functionality. The toolbar has a fixed absolute position which covers the first few lines of PHP errors. Read more →
